Company
Overview

This client is a long-established design-build remodeling firm based in Beaverton, OR, serving homeowners in Portland and the surrounding westside communities. Founded in 1991, they built their reputation on a true design-build process that keeps architectural design and construction under one roof to reduce costs, avoid miscommunication, and streamline projects. In recent years, they went through an ownership change and a full website overhaul to better reflect their high-end positioning and portfolio.

The Challenge

When we first reviewed their analytics in October 2023, their website traffic had been trending downward for most of the year. Despite a strong reputation and a redesigned site, organic visibility wasn’t keeping pace, and inquiries from search were lower than expected. The immediate priority was to stop the decline and then rebuild growth, and do it without losing their existing presence in Portland or diluting their design-build positioning.

The strategy

We approached this as both a stabilization project and an expansion project. First, we needed to protect and strengthen their presence in Portland, where they were already known. Then we focused on widening their footprint into nearby, high-value suburbs where homeowners often prefer working with firms perceived as “local” rather than strictly “Portland-based.”

  • Reviewed the redesigned site and tightened on-page SEO for core design-build service pages
  • Refined content and internal linking to better support design-build keywords
  • Maintained and strengthened Portland-focused visibility through targeted content revisions
  • Planned and implemented a phased location expansion, starting with Beaverton and Lake Oswego
  • Added additional service area pages for West Slope, Council Crest, and Dunthorpe as the strategy proved effective
  • Localized messaging to speak directly to homeowners searching for nearby firms in each suburb
  • Monitored performance by location to see where new pages were capturing meaningful traffic and inquiries
  • Led a second round of website redesign work in late 2025 to better reflect their high-end positioning and further support rankings across their service area

Results

Within months of implementing the localized strategy, the downward trend in traffic flattened and then reversed. Organic visits from Google began climbing again, with especially strong growth coming from the new and refreshed location pages. Over time, this added up to roughly an 80%+ increase in organic sessions compared to the pre-engagement baseline, with a clear shift toward visitors landing on high-intent design-build pages rather than generic content.

Performance by suburb told the same story. Beaverton and Lake Oswego began capturing more searches from homeowners specifically looking for design-build services close to home, while newer areas like West Slope, Council Crest, and Dunthorpe started contributing gradual traffic and inquiries. GA4 data showed year-over-year lifts not only in traffic, but also in conversions from organic search, confirming that the gains were tied to real project opportunities rather than surface-level visibility.

Traffic and engagement growth

Year over year, GA4 showed a clear recovery and then growth in organic traffic, with roughly a 70% increase in sessions from Google compared to the 2023 low point. Users were engaging more deeply with key pages as well: design-build service and location pages saw stronger visit volume, better on-page engagement, as well as a higher share of overall conversions than when we first stepped in.

Performance at a glance

Here’s how the numbers stacked up after the strategy had time to settle in:

  • 80%+ increase in organic visits compared to the 2023 low point
  • 46% year-over-year lift in conversions from organic search
  • Strong, sustained traffic growth from new location pages outside central Portland
  • Design-build keywords moving into stronger positions across core and suburb service areas
  • Healthier backlink profile and authority scores supporting long-term visibility

Conclusion

This case highlights how a structured local SEO approach can reverse a downward traffic trend for an established design-build firm. By stabilizing core visibility in Portland and systematically expanding into nearby suburbs, we aligned the site around design-build queries and locations, recovered lost ground, and then pushed organic sessions roughly 80% above the prior low point. GA4 confirmed that this growth translated into a meaningful boost in conversions, with around 45% year-over-year improvement tied to organic search.
